I am in the middle of frame purse making! I already made 2! The one in the picture was made a few months ago. I don't know how many I will make until Friday, we will see! On a side note, my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt I made with my sisters has been nominated for the Favorite Group or Bee Quilt over at the Blogger's Quilt Festival. Thank you all who nominated it. There are … [Read more...]
Pretty Things Sunday-2-
When I saw these pretty little things, I had to look in the dictionary to find out what's the translation for "macaron". Photo from craftpassion.com / click on the picture to see the tutorial This inspired me to try something new, I hope I can finish it next week. Photo from namthip.com It's Sunday, enjoy some colorful macarons! Geta … [Read more...]
Sewing for a little girl
For a 9-year little girl. This is an improved version of this portfolio. The front. The back. Her mother told me that she loves blue, so I inserted some piping (just strips without cord) into the beautiful fabric - "Wrenly" by valori Wells. There are 2 big pockets - one with zipper (oops, it's black!), and the other secured with Velcro. Slots for pens and a little pocket for a … [Read more...]
Playing with Hexagons
If I don't make quilts, I make bags. If I don't make bags, I make boxes - my friend Teodora is right. So here is my latest play session with hexagons. The fabrics used are " Vintage Modern" by Bonnie and Camille for Moda I started with this simple, tall hexagonal box. Then I made a lid for it - I like to keep things out of dust. Simple to make - just 7 … [Read more...]
Crayons and Rainbows
Quilters usually buy fabric, thread and batting. I just bought these images from DepositPhotos (and I am so happy to support the work of these great artists). Source And I already used them, but I can't show you anything yet - maybe in about 2 weeks. Source It is an experiment, as I did it for the first time. Source I don't know how it will turn out, but if everything goes well, … [Read more...]
Organizing Jewelry…
in this treasure chest. At first I thought to make two little boxes. Then I thought a stack of boxes would be even better. I spent some time choosing the fabrics - I think I made the perfect choice ('Connections' collection by Paintbrush Studio for Fabri-Quilt). And because I had 3 colors, I made 3 sets. Please, please, PRETEND the buttons are jewelry! The third set did not fit so … [Read more...]
Fabric file folder
After all the "solid fabric" projects I made lately, I feel the need to use some beautiful prints from my stash. And I made this quick and easy project. Sometimes I have to go out and keep some documents flat and I thought this fabric folder would look much better than a regular plastic folder. It's an A4 size. It is very stiff, between fabric layers I used a thin but … [Read more...]
New boxes
Look what I whipped up in a few hours, for a friend who loves turquoise. The set measures about 11'' and the boxes are roomy... I could do this again and again, in every possible color combination... But now I have to add binding to my miniature quilt. … [Read more...]
New box
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Many things happened here, you know, things that you are afraid of but that always come ... sooner or later... Hospital, cancer, chemo... my father passed away last week... I still can't believe these words are true... So today I started sewing again, and I tried a new box. I want this one to hang on the wall. Just the first try... I love the shape, but … [Read more...]
Boxes again…
I am in love with these new boxes. What I love most is that the center box is taller than the other boxes that surround it. The difference is only 0.5'' so that it is not too visible in the picture. But I plan to make another set or use this idea for another design. These are cute too. I spent a lot of time choosing fabrics from the huge box of Fusions fat quarters. Having too many … [Read more...]
