Sewing for Christmas- easy and fun ideas

November 23, 2018 3 Comments

I can't say fussy cutting is my passion, but when it comes to sewing for Christmas, I do whatever it takes to make some pretty  fussy cut projects. I also love repetition, so more pieces with the same fussy cut motif make sewing for Christmas even more interesting. This is the starting point of my Folded Flowers pattern and 5'' circles. At first I made these little … [Read more...]

30-Minute Fabric Bowls Pattern

March 18, 2018 17 Comments

If you have some fabric scraps that you cherish and don't know what to use them for, here is an idea. These little bowls measure about 7'' and I needed 10'' fabric and interfacing pieces. They are great for storing work-in-progress projects or for creating beautiful decor, for Easter, as example. The best thing about them: you can sew 2 or 3 in one hour! You need a … [Read more...]

Cake boxes- my new fabric gift boxes

December 5, 2017 3 Comments

Daisies are among my favorite flowers and I was so anxious to buy a few prints from the "Oops a Daisy" collection (by Kanvas Studio for Benartex). The first project I could think of was a new fabric cake! The stripe print is perfect for fussy cutting and the kaleidoscope effect makes the cake special!! Aren't this boxes adorable? I have used my own pattern -  it's so good when … [Read more...]

Sweet ideas to sew and share!

April 6, 2017 1 Comment

I had so much fun sewing these little cones! These ones are a little smaller than the cones shown here. Taking pictures was fun too! You can make cones with as many sides as you want; I made one with 6 sides and below there are some 3-side cones. Aren't they ADORABLE? Of course, the beautiful Ann Kelle fabrics contribute big to their cuteness! Hard to stop sewing … [Read more...]

Miniature Heart Boxes

February 7, 2017 2 Comments

I love sewing pretty little things (have you seen my miniature bags?). So naturally, I had to sew some miniature heart boxes too (pattern here). At first, it was this one, that measures 3'' x 3'' x 1 1/2''. I thought it is so cute that I should try to make even a smaller one. I printed a 2'' heart and here is! If you want to sew a miniature, watch your fingers! Keep them … [Read more...]

Heart boxes

February 4, 2017 Leave a Comment

I have sewn heart boxes in the past, but these one are very special because they have lids; this makes them 10 times more adorable! I think I found the best fabrics for them in my stash! I have a fat quarter bundle from an old collection- Sakura Park by Sentimental Studios. The pink one was the first I made and it is the biggest:  7'' x 7'' x 2''. Then I made two smaller versions - … [Read more...]

My cake for Christmas table

December 11, 2016 Leave a Comment

Sewing these cakes was so much fun! At first, it was the 8 slice cake. Then I chose to make a 12 slice cake.  My 6-year-old nephew watched me while sewing; he immediately noted: the boxes should be smaller, to fit and make a complete circle, right, Geta? He borrowed my templates and made his own pieces, out of paper.  Then he asked me to stitch his paper boxes by machine. Which I did (you … [Read more...]

Fabric Gift Boxes- 12 Slice Cake

December 6, 2016 5 Comments

Hello, friends! I am happy to share my new fabric gift boxes with you, assembled into a 12 slice cake.  Isn't this  a wonderful way to present special gifts to special people? The fabric pieces for the lid boxes were fussy cut and I was so grateful that I have these fruit fabrics in my stash. I have a piece of the strawberry fabric on  white too (and I wanted to use it), but I did not … [Read more...]
