I think this is the sixth (since the first trial). I fused interfacing on this one (Vilene S320). It is not soft and puffy but it keeps its shape. And I have a new passion now: for zippers! Now I think I would eat some cherries! Geta … [Read more...]
Zippered pouch
I am still perfecting the pattern for the zippered pouch with zippered pocket divider. Every time I stitch one, I find something that needs improvement. I love the wide bottom and the fusible fleece fused onto fabric gives the perfect body. Now I have to stitch some cherries - from the same collection - Sakura Park by Sentimental Studios for Moda. Geta Edited to add: If you want … [Read more...]
Addicted to Rainbow
I could add: "to bags", "to pretty little things", "to polka dots". The initial idea was to stitch 3 miniature bags, then I remembered that I have a thing for rainbow, then I thought that 7 minis look better than 3 minis. So, why not ? This is my Danielle bag pattern. I printed the templates of the mini Danielle bag at a reduced scale - in 7 different sizes. So here there … [Read more...]
Mini bags – work in progress
The front of my 7 little purses - in rainbow colors. The smallest one! Can you remove the bed of your sewing machine to get a free arm ? It's a big help when you have to stitch in the round - like the hem of a sleeve or when you have to attach the lining to a bag. I use the free arm all the time when I stitch my bags- no matter the size of the bag. But what if the piece is too small … [Read more...]
Addicted to Colors
I saw this picture on Pinterest; it reminds me by my color addiction. I don't quilt because I love fabric or patterns or because I love to sew; primarily I quilt because I love colors. I suppose most of the quilters are like me: addicted to colors. So I have a fun idea and I think you will like it; more about it soon. Meanwhile, because I love colors, I love tiny things, I love making … [Read more...]
Simply irresistible!
I LOVE big and colorful dots (Disco Dots by Michael Miller). Years ago I made this quilt; I was in love with a watercolor flower print. It looks even better on a bag! It's an old print, by Henry Glass - Midnight Rendezvous!- how appropriate is the name !! And here are a few pictures for you to see the difference between different type of interfacing. For years I used Peltex … [Read more...]
Season of bags
It's summer and here there is a high demand for bags: for my sisters, sisters' friends, my friends, some little girls. Today 's request was for a red bag; geometric print; it's all I could find in my stash! The print is Fly a Kite by October Afternoon for Riley Blake Designs; and the red is Mixmasters from Robert Kaufman. I had a lot of prints from this extended collection, designed by … [Read more...]
Zippered Pouch
Today I made a zippered pouch. It looks like an ordinary pouch, but it is not. Because there is a zippered pocket inside. And it is more than a zippered pocket. It is a pocket divider. It is stitched into the bottom and side seams, dividing the lining space into 3 compartments. I want to put pocket dividers in my next bags, so I thought to try my hand first on a smaller … [Read more...]
Mini tote bags
We already have summer temperatures and I thought it's time to make some summer mini- bags - you don't know when a little girl needs a mini bag. And I made 7- using my Danielle pattern. Just for the pleasure of combining fabrics. I love even the straps! The fabric was quilted on a puffy polyester batting - the bag is soft, perfect for little girls. 2 fat quarters make the … [Read more...]
New Tote Bag Pattern
Here are a few of my latest tote bags. All the fabrics used for these bags are from the Breeze collection by Rosemarie Lavin Design for Windham Fabrics. In love with the front pocket - there is nothing better than a deep, outside pocket. The bag is roomy and it has a zippered pocket on the back. Of course, I couldn't help myself and I modified the pattern and I also stitched a large … [Read more...]
