I am glad to share with you a new free quilt pattern. It’s a small raw edge applique quilt, it measures 14” x 29”. At this size, the quilting was a lot of fun!
At first I wanted to make a two color version, then I remembered that I still have colored thread (the spools used for this Aurifil challenge). Very happy I started to match fabric with thread.
The thread is Aurifil 50wt and the fabric is Fossil Fern (Benartex). The background is kona cotton.

I really wanted to quilt the entire quilt with simple and dense lines that follow the design. But after I secured the edges of the applique with zig-zag stitches, I lost all my patience and switched to the darning foot and enjoyed free motion quilting feathers.

Changing often the color of the thread wasn’t too much trouble!

I love the look of the quilting done with this fine thread.

Yes, it’s FLAT!

Two color versions- it would be hard to choose the colors!

The technique is fast and easy – fusible raw edge applique. The design is simple and modern.
If you want to sew your version, download the pattern below. It’s FREE!
I hope you like this mini quilt as much as I do. And stay tuned for other three or four designs in this series. These will be the free designs of July.
This so cool. I would consider trying this one but I'm not a fan of curves. I'll think about it though.
Gorgeous! I stink at feathers. This might be good practice!
Thank you for this pattern. I love the movement of the lines and all of the colors! The thread echoes finish the negative space perfectly.
You are so generous with your patterns. Beautiful.
A wonderful quilt, I'll love to try it in the autumn. Thank you for this free pattern! Sharing with love, that's you!
Fabulous quilt design, I can't wait to try making one. Thanks for sharing the pattern.
WOW – this one is over-the-top. Love it!!! And your quilting is spectacular, as always!
