Twas the Night Blog Hop

November 18, 2014 68 Comments

Welcome to a new blog hop! This time it’s all about sewing quick gifts and the pleasure of gift giving. And even more – we had to sew and send a quick gift to one of the participants. Thank you Madame Samm and Marlene for organizing this blog hop- I can’t believe I already have Christmas gifts and it’s not even the end of November!

Lets’ see first the amazing gifts I received from Bente –  She “studied” my blog and wanted to sew for me something that I am not used to sew. And she couldn’t surprise me more!!
I am happy to introduce you to Nisse! It’s the first time I see such doll in person. I adore his sweet face, the golden hair and the cool haircut. The colors and patterns of the fabric fit perfectly to him.

 Quick gifts to sew

Have you noticed what he brought me? A hexy flower!!
Nisse will have a special place in my home (and heart too) and he will always remind me of a special Danish quilter living in Germany. Thank you, Bente, your attention to details is amazing.

Quick gifts to sew

Bente also sent me this little stocking with red embroidery – so beautiful!!
Bente’s gift makes me think more about holidays and the time spent with the loved ones.

I sew with much pleasure a small gift for Judith.
And here is what I sewed last week.

Quick gifts to sew

Lace zippers+ faux suede+20 minutes for one pouch!

Quick gifts to sew

It is a pleasure to sew faux suede (much easier than sewing faux leather).
It’s heavy enough, it doesn’t need interfacing.

I bought the lace zippers from Etsy; if you need some, search on ebay too. I read somewhere that you could find them at Joann and Hancock Fabrics too.

I think the lace tape of the zipper looks nice on the simple faux suede.

But it fits perfectly to a pretty quilting print too!

Quick gifts to sew

I took the time to quilt the fabric…

Quick gifts to sew

and now I can’t say which one I love more…

I thought of the cat lovers too!

And here are a few shopping bags. I made these shopping bags for my sisters and a few friends- they were (and still are) a hit! After 5 years they are still in use!

Quick gifts to sew
So I thought it’s time for new shopping bags.

Heavyweight (decorator) fabric +25 minutes to sew for one bag. A little more for one that has a boxed bottom.

Quick gifts to sew

No lining, no raw edge exposed, French seams…

Quick gifts to sew

and a desire to sew more…

Quick gifts to sew

Come back soon to see more!!
Thank you for your visit!
Please check out today’s participants  – we all need new ideas for quick gifts to sew!!

Nissi is adorable – I really must make a doll. Your bags are all wonderful and fit the concept of this hop. I am in love with the lace zippers. I bought a couple about a year ago and have only used one; I'm so glad to know they are becoming more attainable. I love the red, green, and pink ones the best!
