Shadow Trapunto for Quilts with winter theme

Is there a better technique than shadow trapunto to make quilts with winter theme?  I think that the designs of my shadow trapunto quilts look like they are drawn in the snow.

And it’s not only the visual effect, if you could touch them…

The quilts below are some of my first shadow trapunto quilts- made in 2008.

I duplicated the design of the quilt below, only I made it smaller.

Much smaller…15″ x 15″, while the big quilt was 40” x 40”.

I know I was so proud of it…I still have these quilts. I like to compare them with my newest shadow trapunto quilts and see the improvement of technique.

If you need to know more about this technique, here is a Shadow Trapunto Tutorial.

  1. Making a quilt with your shadow method is still on my list of things to do. I have always loved your shadow quilts and you are right, winter does seem a good theme since they remind me so much of snowflakes.
