By now you must be bored of my bags! I still love to make this pattern, every bag is unique and has its own charm given by the beautiful fabrics. This one is a gift for one of my sister's friend. She did not know what is her favorite color and we were afraid to use bold prints and colors, so Nico chose from my stash this "Vintage Modern" print by Moda. I paired it with Mixmasters … [Read more...]
Sewing for a little girl
For a 9-year little girl. This is an improved version of this portfolio. The front. The back. Her mother told me that she loves blue, so I inserted some piping (just strips without cord) into the beautiful fabric - "Wrenly" by valori Wells. There are 2 big pockets - one with zipper (oops, it's black!), and the other secured with Velcro. Slots for pens and a little pocket for a … [Read more...]
Quilted Bag
It seems the latest bag is always the most beautiful! And no, it is not mine, I made it for my sister Oana - you know, the one who pointed me to quilting! She deserves it! I am in love with this print - "Fly a Kite" by October Afternoon for Riley Blake Designs. Two days I searched on Internet to buy more and finally I found 2 yards in a shop. So if you want some too, I tell you it is hard to … [Read more...]
Drawstring bags
For my sweet little nephew Alex. He turns 2 on Saturday. The dot fabric is cotton twill. It is a wonderful fabric, its weight is something between quilt fabric and decorator fabric weight. That fabric is by MoMo and I think Moda prints some of their designs on twill. As lining I used other pretty fabrics from my stash. For this one I had two coordinated prints. I … [Read more...]
New Bag
I started with summer bags, now I am making fall bags. For me I think I will make a winter bag. Or maybe a spring bag! This one is for my sister Nina. The floral fabric is "Wonderland" by MoMo for Moda. I was in love with that collection and now I would have loved to have one more print. Have a great and productive sewing week, Geta Edited: The pattern for this … [Read more...]
Failure…
Well, sort of ! So, in the middle of the hexagon madness, I had the fabulous idea to make something for me and my 3 sisters, to remember us the good times when we stitched hexagons together. Inspired by my latest tote bags, I thought to make a bag for each of us. With hexagons, of course, and with dot fabric, because all of us love dots. I followed my idea, I made hexy flowers in polka dot … [Read more...]
Mini Frame Purse
This is my first frame purse. Inspired by the wonderful frame purses I see everyday on Internet, I had to try to make one myself. I made a very simple pattern, to see how it works. It's easy! I attached the purse to the frame with hand stitches, I suppose it is easier than to work with glue. I am unhappy that my stitches are visible on the inside part. I can't figure out how to make … [Read more...]
New Summer Tote Bags
At first, I made this one. The fabric is "Farmdale" from Alexander Henry. Then I made this one. The same beautiful apples, just smaller... the bag is also smaller, for a mother-daughter team. I also had in my stash these big apples, it's "Apple of My Eye" by Quilted Fish for Riley Blake. Big apples- big tote! I added two zippered pockets (one inside and one outside), to keep safe … [Read more...]
New Tote Bags
These tote bags kept me busy this week. The fabric is a heavyweight cotton from Ikea. This one is really large, great for shopping or a walk to the beach. For this one I change a little the pattern. It is smaller and with rounded corners. Isn't the stripped fabric versatile ? This pattern requires two fabrics. I did not have another fabric to match with the green strips, so I … [Read more...]
Lovely!
Isn't this pouch wonderful ? My friend Teodora made it for me a few months ago. She knows very well what I like: green color and kitties. Fabulous assorted ! I carry it in my tote bag but it is too sweet to be hiden there, I have to find another use for it! The kitty panel is a paper napkin. The pouch is washable, YES! The technique is called "decoupage" and Teodora has a tutorial … [Read more...]
