Notre Aventure Parisienne

There was a time (oh, long time ago!) when my French language was 10 times better thanĀ  it is now my English. But I did not use it and I forgot probably 90% of what I knew. But this is not an impediment in loving the music of French singer Mylene Farmer.

We are ready for our third trip to Paris to see her in concerts. We have tickets for 3 concerts. I know, you think we are crazy. Are we crazy when visiting Houston Quilt Festival for 3 days ? For me, Mylene and quilting mean the same thing: they make me happy and I think these are the best things in my life. In fact, my love for Mylene is similar with my love for quilting and I really don’t understand how these 2 things came into my life the same time and how both changed my life!

So our Parisian adventure will start in 2 days. This time I did not make a newĀ Ā quilt for Mylene, but, you know, I have 3 sisters! And they all come to Paris. Look what I made for them!

Ā – large travel bags –

Do you remember this 1” hexagon bag ?

I made it for Oana
This one is for Nico/ fabric is “Sakura Park” by Moda.

To finish it faster, I made it with bigger hexagons – 1 1/4”.

Solid fabric turned into quilted fabric –Ā  dramatic change!

And an assorted double zippered pouch.

This one with black and white hexies is for Nina; Nina helped me to sew the hexies for all these bags. And the entire black and white thing was her idea. Thank you, M, for the beautiful black and white scraps!

Ugly thick black fabric quilted and turned into beautiful black fabric .

And a small shoulder bag- for Nina as well.

I could not help myselfĀ  and added a little color…

And a matching double zippered pouch for each large bag.

Which one do you like most ?

I am partial – I like mine :), the one without hexagons but in fabulous (Jenean Morrison ) fabric!

Now to pack! And hopefully schedule some new posts. See you after September 20, with stories from Paris.

  2. I have four sisters and two sisters-in-law and I'm in the process of making each of them a bag for Christmas. And I have 5 nieces to make bags for. Have a great time in Paris and enjoy those bags; they are beautiful!

  3. Wow, Geta, they are all gorgeous! It's unbelievable what you do with quilting! I can't stop admiring it. And my favorite bag? The black and white.. chic for Paris šŸ™‚ Have a great time!

  4. You're a good sister, Geta. Have fun in Paris with your sisters and your hubby of course. I love your purses and of course your twice as nice pouches. Hubs and I have been vacationing in paradise; we're headed home tomorrow. Two weeks just doesn't seem long enough but I sure miss my feline quilt tester. I can't wait to snuggle with her.

  5. I think ALL OF THEM are beautiful. You are a wonderful sister and I'm sure they know it. How marvelous to take a trip like that together. I was in Paris 12 years ago for a whirlwind 2-1/2 days and actually visited Le Rouvray quilt shop (my husband allowed me 15 minutes only). I have been waiting to see what you were going to do with those black and white hexies you shared a few weeks ago and now I see – simply divine! Have a fabulous time and let the music of your famous French singer give you joy and even new ideas for quilting.

  6. Hi Geta,

I love them all, and I am usually a bright color girl, but in this case, the Sakura Park is my favorite. Your sisters are so lucky to have you for a sister, and you are so lucky to have so many helpers in quilting!
