Faux Leather Bag

We are home again. Paris was wonderful (with the exception of weather!); Mylene Farmer was wonderful and at 52, more beautiful than ever. Her shows – PERFECTION  (some short videos here and here )- I will count the days until December 2014 to have the DVD.

Bad weather = time for shopping so I enjoyed shopping. And I bought a few things I can’t buy online.
And I started already to work with some.

I bought from Tissus Reine faux leather. I was so anxious to sew a bag and without too much thinking I made a simple shopping bag.

After so many bags made with heavyweight and stiff interfacing, I love this soft feel of the bag.

To keep the seams flat, instead of pressing I chose to stitch down the seam allowances.

Also without too much thinking, I cut strips for straps and I wanted to make them the usual way –  fold, press, fold, press.  Not a chance with this fabric!
So I sewed a tube for the first time and turned it from one side to the other without difficulties- cool!

I have 8 colors of this faux leather, so expect more!

What else I enjoyed while in Paris? Macarons! From La Duree. The best!
The price? 1 macaron =  about 1 fat quarter!

And a collage with us.

  1. Ouah bravo for this bag, I will try to do something similar.
Sorry for the bad weather in Paris, we are having a great week now. Normally Spetember is like été indien (indian summer) here as well.
Learn to do the macaron and you will save money. 🙂

  2. The bag seems to be so soft! I love the picture with you all, I see that you have the beautiful bags with you! Sorry for the wheather but Mylene was great, so, everything was fine!

  4. What size needle and type of thread did you use? I would like to do this with the shafts from women's leather boots from a thrift store. Our local Goodwill store always has so many of them for like $10 each.

  5. What great memories you will have of this trip and every time you look at one of your photos you will be reminded. Glad you had a wonderful trip.

  6. Geanta e foarte frumoasa! Juri ca-i de piele!
