Simple Patchwork Quilt Finished

I am relieved that I finished this huge quilt (pictures of the top are here; pattern here).

The big size (96”x96”) was more a psychological obstacle 🙂 Next time I will not let the big size stress me, the next quilt will be even bigger.

The cotton batting was 4” smaller than the top. I used it; I stretched it just a little and it worked fine.

First I quilted the white sashings. With all the pins removed , I started then quilting the spirals in the patchwork blocks. It’s easier for the brain not to change the quilting so often!! At least, it was for MY brain!

The white backing never disappoints  me.
Now that it is finished, I adore it!
Last week I shared in this Interfacing Guide why I love making quilted bags. Here is the proof – yesterday  I washed this bag; here is how it looks like after I removed it from the washing machine.

The interfacing is non-fusible Timtex.

The bag needs just a little pressing, more to bring the interfacing back in shape.

Happy Weekend to you all,

Geta

I am going to have to explore the Timtex interfacing. I want to do some bags as gifts, and yours turned out so pretty.

  2. First time visiting (through Finish it Friday at Crazymomquilts). The is patchwork quilt is really fresh. I love the movement of the wonky squares and the quilting you did. How inspiring! I will make sure to check in in the the future to see what other inspiring projects you work on.
