Work and Love

The work and love we put in our quilts!

Those who don’t quilt could say these are just words. Even when we make our own quilts, I think we are not always aware of the “work and love”. We just make quilts and don’t count anything. But when someone sends a quilt top to you, asking to quilt it, it is impossible not to see the huge amount of work and the love the quilter stitched on it.

I don’t see quilts made by other quilters everyday. OK, I see a few once in a few years! So when I saw this top, the perfect piecing, the beautiful colors and fabrics (not to mention the long sweet message written in Romanian), I understood once again that quilting is about work and love.

This quilt has a special story. With Barb’s permission, I share it with you.
Barb lives in USA and her son is married with a Romanian girl, Carmen.

They are expecting now the first baby. Barb saw pictures of
my “Building Fun” quilt and immediately she knew that was the perfect
pattern for a baby quilt.
She asked me to quilt this top for her. Carmen
misses her family and country very much. In this way, the new baby would
then have a little bit of both countries!

I think Barb’s care for Carmen’s feelings is amazing!

It is the first time I quilt other quilter’s top. It is a
huge responsibility! I am really nervous! I hope Barb will not be disappointed.

I have to quilt it now!

  6. The quilt arrived back on my doorstep yesterday and I could not believe how beautiful it looks with Geta's quilting! It is perfect. It is beyond perfect. The roof tiles and bricks are magnificent. I would have loved to have seen how she accomplished the intricate detail of each block. I am so honored that she agreed to be part of this project. I hope one day to return to Romania and perhaps I will be lucky enough to meet Geta. She certainly makes the world a better place for all of us!!
