Pretty, and it is not fabric

October 7, 2013 13 Comments

I saw these on Pinterest, I pinned them and I now I own them. While in Paris in searching for the famous macaroons, I found a Cath Kidston  shop. My hubby probably  thought I am a little crazy -  seeing my happy dance! He has no idea who is Cath Kidston.  It wasn't easy to choose the favorite thing!   I bought her book too - inspirational! I am more than … [Read more...]

New experiment

December 11, 2012 6 Comments

This was my first experiment with "mod podge" (not the original one, but something similar, bought in Romania). Before... Some paper, two coats of glue and the job was done. Easier than I thought. I have now Orla Kiely pencil holders -  made with wrapping paper. How much did they cost me ? Under $2! ...and after! If you are curious about Mod Podge,  here is an article - … [Read more...]

Paper Stars

December 5, 2012 14 Comments

Yesterday I played with glitter paper. I made these stars, following this tutorial.  Quick and easy ! The stars look great if you glue them on a window. And if you use semi-transparent paper, the pattern of the star looks even more complicated. It is very easy to fold the 8 pieces. Glue can be used to assemble the star. Since my paper was very thick, I stitched them together, using  … [Read more...]

Today I don't work. Today is Mylene's birthday.  Today I am sure millions of her fans are thinking of her. Photo from Mylene.net I plan to spoil myself. Watching her concerts... and stitching hexagons. This collage of moments from her concerts is bringing me so many wonderful memories. If you are wondering who is Mylene Farmer,  watch this video! Spoil yourself, you will … [Read more...]

Hello Houston!

July 19, 2012 31 Comments

No, I am not going to Houston. But my latest shadow trapunto quilt will be there, for a few days, in November. It has been accepted into the 2012 International Quilt Festival. I  named it A World of Many Colors (I know, not too inspired! I am engineer!) I am so happy, since I made  it, it stays rolled on top of a closet. I can't even think to hang it on a wall, because of … [Read more...]

Christmas Present

November 17, 2011 13 Comments

Bought with the birthday money... for this Christmas and the next Christmas...and the next one... I don't know when Robert Kaufman started to sell these collections but I always wanted one. It's Fusions 5573 collection. I dreamed of winning some lottery so I can buy it... 100 fat quarters and only a few colors are duplicated... These are small prints, like these ones: I will start to make … [Read more...]

43!

October 26, 2011 47 Comments

I am turning 43 years old today. How time flies! 25 years ago I thought that people over 40 are so old! We were still under the communism and the young/cool people wore jeans (the fortunate ones, of course, at the time jeans weren't for everyone). The old people wore ugly pants made out from boring fabrics (at least this is what I was thinking). I did not even dare to think about me at 40! But … [Read more...]

I Wrote a Book!

October 17, 2011 66 Comments

Dear quilting friends, I am so happy I can finally share with you the secret I kept during the last 18 months: I wrote a book! About my shadow trapunto quilts - some of you know that this is my favorite quilting technique. The book will be released in February 2012 by C&T Publishing. Ten years ago when I started learning quilting I was exactly like a child learning the alphabet. I would … [Read more...]
