Creative Labels for Quilts

Block #50 of The Splendid Sampler will be released tomorrow and everyone agrees that this requires big celebration!  So the designers of the blocks thought to make something special for all the quilters that sew this sampler- check out the celebration’s  party here.

A quilt with 100 different blocks is definitely a special quilt. And it deserves a special label. Actually, each quilt is special and would deserve a special label, but do we have time to do this, each and every time?

From my 15-year experience, I recall exactly ONE special label (the “not so special labels” are these ones). It was made for this group quilt.

Templates for labels for quilts

SO I made these templates for you, they measure 7”; they could be enlarged to any size. If you need a smaller template, just print it at a reduced scale.

I thought that if you are looking for new ideas for labels, maybe this inspires you.

  • You could make it scrappy and use pieces from your favorite fabrics
  • You could write down some thoughts to keep your memories alive.
  • And of course, the design is great for a group quilt – I know many quilters are involved in such big projects.
  • Or you could simply use the templates to sew some pretty coasters (fussy cut motifs would look great in the center).
