The hexagon flowers are fusible raw edge appliques.

Here is the top before quilting. I marked some wavy lines with a water soluble pen. When the center design was quilted, I stabilized the quilt stitching with white thread on the lines.

I put on the machine the first colored thread and I stitched with it all the areas I wanted. I moved from one area to the next one without cutting the threads, it saves a lot of time.
Then I did the same using the second color and so on until the entire background was quilted.
In the bobbin I used the same thread for the whole quilt.

Because the quilt is small I thought the 50 wt thread is good but of course, a thick thread will highlight the quilting better.

  • First, stabilize the area with thread in the same color as the fabric.
  • The fabric you use is important too; the multicolor quilting will not be visible on busy prints – save your time! It looks gorgeous on solid or almost solid fabrics.
  • Try a thick thread.
