A new adventure- Aurifil 12wt

I love beautiful prints on anything. And I am addicted to mugs and tins.
These are a few things I  came back with from Vienna. I will gladly go again there for a few more 🙂

I found the perfect things to put in them!

So why do you do when you want to try something new? Like Aurifil 12wt ?
You would (should) buy a spool. Not me!
First, I bought a color card – just to be sure that I will buy the exact colors I want.

I mean –  different colors, different tones!

I wasn’t successful!

These are the large spools –  355 yards / 325 meters. Now you have an idea about how thick this thread is!

Did I mention that I wanted 10 spools ? The order (from Hawthorne Threads) arrived with 21 spools! I couldn’t give up to any from my cart!

Now wish me luck with the new quilt. I need it!

And stay tuned  because I learned a lot (the hard way) about free motion quilting with such a thick thread!

  1. Hi. I'm really looking forward to hear from your aventure with thick thread. My first FMQ quilt was with 30wt cotton thread, and it wasn't that fun. Since then, I mostly used 40wt polyester thread. So easier. But I definitely want to try something different.

  2. How cute those tins and mug are. I am interested, where you bought it in Vienna. I'm from here, but have never seen such nice things.Could you tell me the shop please?
    Best wishes from Vienna Erika.

  3. Everything is so lovely! Sounds like you had a lovely trip! Pardon me while I get a kleenex…I seem to be drooling (just a little) =)

  4. Geta, lindas latas!!! Amo estas latas, aqui no Brasil elas custam caro…
E as cores? Incrivelmente inspiradoras e lindas cores das linhas. Boa sorte, muita sorte e bons trabalhos.
    Beijos.

  5. Good luck, Geta! Wonderful selection of colors, I understand why you could not stop at 10 spools…now you must buy some more tins.

  6. So pretty!! I am a huge fan of aurifil and started out with just the neutrals but recently added the Simplify color pack to my collection. I would love to round out my rainbow though – will you please add the color numbers to your post?
