Washable markers for quilts

Some time ago I told you that I use these ultra washable markers to mark my quilts.

These are markers for kids, I found them in a supermarket, 12 pieces for about $4!

I already use a few on my quilts, but I thought it is time for an in-depth testing. I read that some markers disappear after washing but become visible again if the fabric is exposed to low temperature.
So I marked a piece of fabric then I pressed it very well.

Then I washed and dried it and then I forgot it in the freezer for a few days.
Today I remembered about it and with some emotions I removed it from the freezer. I pressed it again!
And I am happy to report that I have an immaculate white piece of fabric.

Now I am happy that I have 12 markers for the price of one of the old markers I used before!

The brand I found is French, but I suppose other brands have similar markers too. If you buy them, test them before using them on your best quilt!

  1. I think it's the iron-away Frixion pens that are a big problem with reappearing in cold temperatures. Using these is a great idea if you're planning to wash the quilt anyway–I'm going to have to look for some!

  2. Are these the markers that at first don't really appear to have any color but then color shows up in about 3-5 seconds? Thanks, I always learn so much from you!

  3. I've been using the Frixion pen for a while now and it does the same thing. These pens are less expensive than the Frixion ~ money saved for more fabric!!!

  4. Thank you so much. I've been hearing about alternatives but haven't tried any. The Frixion pen is ok but leaves a faint white/gray line that I don't like. Will be purchasing these this week.

  5. I love everything you do! Your work is stunning, and I can't get enough of you. You have become my daily stop and I just want to commend you on your work. I would love to see it in person, maybe some day.
