Laminated fabric

I made a new double pouch;  it is a little wrinkly because…

it’s made with laminated fabric.
I always wanted to buy laminated fabric but as it is more expensive and bulkier  than the regular cotton,  it is still on my wish list.
But a few months ago I had a chance to buy “Lamifix” in Romania (Kreativshop) and today I finally laminated fabric.

I used the product manufactured by Freudenberg Germany ; Pellon also have such a product, they are probably similar.
Lamifix is a new iron-on transparent film that can be fixed to fabric, protecting it from getting dirty.
After I applied the film to fabric, the colors of the fabric faded a little.

I read a few tips for working with laminate fabric but I did not need to use them; at least, the one that says it is difficult to move the fabric under the presser foot and you need a special foot or you have to use some tricks if you want to stitch with the regular foot.

So I stitched this double pouch without any problem! And everything I used was laminated. When I had to turn the pouch from one side to the other, I really thought that I have to throw everything to the trash; but with a  little patience and a final press, the pouch is looking really good.

Now, when my little nephew Alex visits with us, my sister Nico has a pouch to store all his medicine. She always brings them in a plastic bag that is always too small !

Have a great weekend,
Geta

  1. Great job Geta and thanks for sharing the laminate product with us. We are spoiled in the United States to have access to the laminated fabric. Have a wonderful day.

  2. How cute! Thank you for a review of working with the iron on laminate. I've seen it but have not tried it, wondering how it would behave in a project.

  3. Have too always wanted to try the laminating plastic but just have not done it yet. Your zip bag looks great and an inspiration to try it.
