Be a Hexie Queen Blog Hop

Today is the first day of the Be a Hexie Queen Blog Hop; a big, huge “thank you”  to Madame Samm and Debby, who are hosting this fun event. I am very happy to be part of it.

The hexagon virus affects more and more quilters and I am one of them. So here are my hexagon projects I made (or finished) especially for this blog hop.

First,  my hexy cubes are finally quilted!

Could you see the cubes ? The quilt is made out of about 500 hexagons.

Each cube has feathers quilted in 3 different directions, to help the 3D view.

This block is so versatile; rotate it 180 degrees and you a have a completely new look. Could you see the difference ?

The next project – some of you assumed it is a quilt. I am sorry if I disappoint you, it’s only a bag. A very large bag  (a travel bag) I made for our next trip to Paris (less than 3 weeks until then, yes!).

I am in love with this bag; I think it is the most beautiful bag I made to date. It’s made with pieces from a Fossil Fern charm pack and 1” hexagons.

The quilted back…

The gusset –  quilted as well.

The zippered closure.

And the third project –  a zippered pouch  made with my Twice As Nice pattern

There is a  secret zippered pocket inside, completely stitched into the lining of the exterior pouch,so that it divides the lining space into three separated compartments.

I wanted to see how the feathers look like quilted on squares (or read, I did not have time for other hexagons!).  Hmm!!

I still have to sew a matching, small, shoulder bag!

Thank you for your visit; please visit the other participants. I am anxious to see their hexagon projects.

Patterns for the hexy bag is available now.

  1. Amazing. Those cubes are fantastic. 500 hexies….Sjeeeeez! You are right to talk about a virus…. I think my throat is starting to tingle seeing all those projects. I will have to try this too……It does look great, though! The bag is incredible. I love it. I also love the matching little bags, so cute. You did great!

  2. Well, as we Americans say, you "knocked it out of the ball park"!!! What breathtaking projects! But I already knew you would stun us with all this hexie beauty. Now I want to make a Fossil Fern hexie bag. I am never disappointed seeing your creativity. Today has to be one of the hightlights. Oh, well. They ALL are hightlights and the hexie world is a better place because of you. Hold onto that purse in Paris. A designer is going to want to grab it and clone it for the next runway show to make him famous.

  3. Fantastic is the only word I can come up with and it just does not mean what I really want to say. The quilt is incredible and I am severly drooling over your bag…excuse me while I reach for kleenex.

  20. Congrats on being a top 2 finisher today. Your projects are phenomenal. The tumbler hexies are great. Personally, I can see them easier in one of the pictures than the other (when they are 180 degrees rotated). The quilting's great and enhances the blocks beautifully. The bags are wonderful. The larger bag is going to have everyone in Paris drooling. The smaller bag (Twice as Nice) is great, too. You did a wonderful job. Thanks for participating and inspiring me and making me drool.
