Because most of the time you can find me using the sewing machine, I tried to make English Paper Piecing faster.
I basted the fabric to paper templates with glue and instead of stitching the pieces by hand, I whip stitched them by machine.
I placed the pieces right sides together and stitched the edges with a very narrow and dense zig-zag stitch.
Yes, it was faster than stitching by hand. Not as accurate as the hand stitching; still the stitching looks good. But it wasn’t fun at all!
I can’t believe that I say this, but in this case, I love more the peace of hand stitching than the noise of the sewing machine; I love me more when I see me staying calm and watching a concert than when I struggle to keep the pieces aligned and make the stitching invisible on the machine.
After 12 years of quilting, I became probably wiser! I understand now that “FAST” is not the best word in the world.
But now, I really have to stitch some samples- FAST- by machine!
PS. I can’t believe this is the 600th post!
