Here is my first attempt at smocking fabric. I love it and I imagine many uses for such textured fabric.
I learned to do this following this easy tutorial.
It’s not that I don’t already have too many boards on Pinterest, but I created a new one, Fabric Texture.
Now back to the boring task of writing a pattern!
Have a great sewing week,
Geta
Edited: One of my readers sent me the link to this website. You have to see this Brazilian artist’s work. I browsed her site from start to finish.
What a unique and interesting technique Geta…..where do you find all these things???
I'm now working also at smocking patterns, if you chanched the grit you get smart patterns.

Looks easy enough and the results are dazzling.
lovely. my mother used to make velvet pillow covers with this pattern.
Geta, your smocking is so beautiful!
That looks totally amazing! I thought it was braided somehow.
I used to make my daughter hats using this technique (46+ years ago!). I used gingham check fabric…squares already marked!
I am definitely going to have a go at this over the weekend, I love it.
felicitaciones todo muy hermoso , pero mucho trabajo
