I tried the technique a few times and it works. It is not fun to do it on 1100 pieces, but it works great for irregular shapes and not so many patches!

Thanks for the reminder! I had completely forgotten I had a 1/8 inch hole punch — will get it out and use it!
Why this and not wrapping the piece like a hexagon? What would be the difference?
