Dots on Dots

It’s my turn for the Dots on Dots Blog Hop. Many thanks to Corrie and Madame Samm for hosting another awesome hop.

I love dots. I have  a lot of dots in my stash but I still continue to buy them…
Here is the block I stitched yesterday.

English paper Piecing

For the first time, instead of basting the fabric to the paper templates, I used a glue pen (purchased from Romania, how cool is that!).

I loved working with it – in no time I had all the pieces ready to sew. But I confess –  this task is boring!
And pulling out the paper templates took me a while.

I love this quick option, it is fabulous for a small project but I don’t think I would use it for a 3000 piece project.Or, who knows ?I will tell when I start a new 3000 piece project!

I am not in the best mood these days, but I enjoyed stitching this block.

  1. PINK! I love pink. I love your block. It looks lovely. I've never tried english paper piecing, but I am getting really tempted by the patterns on your block. I'll be back for them!

  2. Oh Geta you did a lovely paper pieced block. In Scandinavia, especially Denmark, but I am from Sweden, it is common among the quilting ladies to sew EPP. I have started a quilt top with big hexies some months ago and it is now my favorite during watching TV. But I will not try glue pen as I think it will be a hard work to remove the paper piecies.
I am a follower of your blog and I think I will soon try one of your pattern.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful dotty block

  3. The best application for the glue pen I have found is when I want to make a framed "framed hexagon". Since there are 2 layers to the frame and the second frame is actually being wrapped around the back to the front to make a second frame, the first set of hexes continued to slip. I used the glue pen on the second frame, but I do not have to sew through the glue.
I have been admiring your work for some time now…I pray your mood improves…Thanks for all you share. If it would improve your mood, I will email you a picture of my hexagon jacket? Thanks for the pretty pink hexie flower pictures!

  4. Stitched by hand? Or stitched by machine? Wow that is beautiful. I don't know that I would be too thrilled with peeling the glue off either unless it was a temporary bond like post it notes.. maybe. The block, like everything you do is just fantastic!!

  5. I really like your hexagon block! I use glue sticks all the time when quilting! I buy them by the case! (I have also used the SewLine Glue pens similar to what you bought from Romania, but available in the US. They're a lot less messy!) Great job!

  6. WOW! I love your block. I have some hexagon that I would love to try on a pattern like this. I visited Romania last year and had the BEST time. The food was wonderful too. I looked at your posts and love what you do. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Wow…fabulous idea. I am working on a block for the Craftsy block of the month last night using the English Paper Piecing. After just a few hexagon…I have a new respect for those quilts made of hexies. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Like others, I will pray your mood improves. I totally get it, though, your mood I mean.
God grant you peace and a quiet spirit and mental and spiritual healing, letting all the negative go, leaving you empty to be filled with joy.

  12. Geta, I sorry to hear your mood is off. Sometimes a cheery block like yours can help lift one's spirits. The block is really darling and looks complicated. I think I'll try a fabric glue for my next pp block. Thanks for the tip.

  13. finally! someone who isn't drooling over all the hexagons!! I thought it was just me who found them too time-consuming and repetitive. But then, you have so many other projects that the rest of us wouldn't even attempt to do!! YOur talent know no boundaries!
