Just one more step…

My sister Nina was here yesterday, so we had to do some work!
I laid the top on the floor so she can see it.
This cat thinks it looks great …

… while this one is sleeping on this quilt – her favorite place!

We removed the paper templates.

4 hands filled this bag in  about 2 hours.

I thought this is a boring and time consuming task but it really wasn’t. I love this step!
This is the tool I used to pull out the templates –  it was soooo easy!  And it doesn’t matter whether  the paper template has hole in the center or not.

I hope to find some time to quilt it in the next 10 days.
Now I am busy fusing fabric to interfacing. And I am not making bags…

  1. I use a paper punch to make holes in the center of my paper hexies and then I use the same tool to pop them out. I do reuse my papers and I also take them out as soon as one is surrounded. That helps the top from being so heavy as I am adding to it as well.
So I will never have to spend a long session removing them.

  2. Beautiful quilt. I love that you showed us all parts of making the quilt. I once posted a picture of the threads that come off of the fabric after washing and people didn't know why I was showing it. Thanks so much for sharing.

  3. Beautiful hexagon quilt ~ that's a lot of pieces! Amazing how a cat can find it's way onto a quilt too ~ I laid one out the other morning and 2 of my cats were on it in no time!
How many pieces are there? Can't wait to see how you quilt it!
