The quilt of the favorite flowers/ Quiltul florilor favorite

In winter the garden will be so empty without these flowers !
La iarna gradina va fi atat de pustie fara aceste flori !

My sister Nina loves so much all the flowers that bloom in her garden! I want she can see those flowers in her house in winter too, so for her birthday, I made a special quilt !

Sora mea iubeste atat de mult florile din gradina ei, ca m-am gandit sa i le aduc pe timpul iernii in casa. Si i-am facut un quilt special, pentru ziua ei !

Nina was very happy, she didn’t expect a quilt,
not in the least a quilt with her flowers.
The pictures are not good at all, we didn’t spend much time
taking pictures (we were busy to plant 18 new types of tulips !)

Nina a fost atat de incantata, nu se astepta sa ii fac un quilt,
si in nici un caz un quilt cu florile din gradina ei.
Pozele nu sunt bune deloc, nu am putut sta mai mult sa fac
unele mai bune, ne grabeam sa plantam 18 noi soiuri de lalele !

I chose a few pictures taken this year and I printed them on cotton fabric using my inkjet printer.

Use a good quality cotton (you can buy PFD – prepared for dyeing fabric from quilting stores).From the large fabric cut pieces in the size you prefer for your printer.

Iron freezer paper (or a piece of Wonder Under) on the back of these pieces.

To get a good quality of printed photos , you have to enhance the colors of photos before you print them.

Print the pictures using the best print quality.
Make the colors permanent using an iron (NO STEAM).

Am selectat cateva poze din sutele facute asta vara cu flori, si le-am imprimat pe panza, cu imprimanta mea cu jet de cerneala. Nu am avut panza de calitatea cea mai buna (aceea era departe, in America !), si am folosit ce am avut: shifon din bumbac, o panza destul de groasa si nu atat de deasa pe cat as fi vrut.
Se taie din bucata mare de material bucati cat o coala A4. Pentru ca panza sa intre in imprimanta, trebuie intarita, stabilizata. Se poate face calcand pe dos o bucata de freezer paper- hartia cerata pe o parte in care se impacheteaza mazeluri.Eu n-am avut asa o hartie, asa ca am calcat pe dos cate o bucata de Wonder Under (o pelicula de lipici, intins pe o coala de hartie ).

Cum o bucata de panza nu este identica cu o hartie de calitate, nu va asteptati sa obtineti calitate fotografica la pozele imprimate pe panza. Culorile vor fi un pic mai sterse, de aceea, inainte de a le imprima, ar fi bine sa modificati saturatia culorilor (sa faceti culorile mai vii). Toate programele de grafica fac asta. Imprimanta se seteaza sa listeze pe calitatea cea mai buna.
Dupa ce se imprima, bucatile de panza se calca cu fierul, in acest fel culorile devin permanente.

Pentru ce calitate a avut shifonul meu, pozele au iesit foarte bine. Dupa calcare, tonurile s-au inchis o idee.Un material mai fin si mai dens (cum ar fi poplinul-nici asta nu se gaseste la noi pe toate drumurile ! ) probabil ca ar fi dat rezultate ceva mai bune.
Exista in America si variante mai simple dar foarte scumpe pt imprimat, dar eu am fost multumita cu asta.

Am listat pozele astfel incat sa ramana un chenar alb.

After ironing the pieces of fabric, remove the paper from back.
Now, the pictures are ready to be glued (or appliqued) onto a background fabric.

Dupa ce le-am calcat, am dezlipit hartia de pe dos, si pozele au fost gata de a fi lipite pe un material de fond.

I made trapunto under every flowers.

Inainte de a face sandvichul cu vatelina si dos, sub fiecare floare am facut trapunto (am pus un strat de vatelina si am cusut pe conturul exterior al florii, apoi am decupat in asa fel incat sa ramana vatelina numai sub floare)

Geta, este un quilt grozav! Abia asteptam sa-l vad. Trapunto pune foarte bine in evidenta florile. Si imi place cum imbini tu intr-un articol bucuria vizuala cu niste sfaturi tehnice nepretuite. Bravo.

Draga Geta, una dintre pozele trimise e chiar Miriam cu acest quilt, ma uit la ea si-mi spun :un camp de flori! Ce pacat ca nu l-am putut admira si pe viu!
