Sew No Binding Quilted Placemats/Coasters

October 9, 2015 11 Comments

Do you hate binding quilts? I know not all the quilters love binding quilts (do you need help to change this? this tip should help!). Then let's sew some "no binding" quilted pieces! Miniature Quilt

March 16, 2012 30 Comments

It is great to test new designs on miniature quilts. As I don't make miniatures often, I almost forgot how quickly a quilt can be made. And, if there are lessons to be learned, then it is great  to learn them without too much work/wasting/regrets. I am not fond of fusible web, I don' t like stiff patches. But fusible web has some advantages.  I printed the templates on it and my … [Read more...]

WIP- miniature quilt

February 17, 2012 5 Comments

I love to work on this mini quilt. In just a few hours, I made templates and cut out all the applique pieces. This time I made the templates out of fusible web. Half of the templates I printed directly on the paper side of fusible web. Then the printer couldn't recognize the paper and did not want to print again. So I had to transfer the other half of design by hand.  Nothing fun! All the … [Read more...]

The long way to a miniature quilt / Lungul drum al unui quilt in miniatura

April 9, 2008 10 Comments

I love to make quilts, but I hate 2 tasks that are needed in order to finish a quilt: the transfer of quilting pattern on the top of the quilt and hand-stitching the binding on the back of the quilt. But for trapunto I am very happy that I can stitch the pattern through paper. But what a mess when it is the time to remove the paper! Little pieces of paper are everywhere in the house ! … [Read more...]

December 25, 2007 3 Comments

My newest passion: miniature quilts! Miniatures drew my attention when I saw Eleanor Burns in a show with a Jewel Box pattern on 3 quilts: a king size quilt, a wall hanging and a miniature. Then I told myself: "Sometimes, I will make a miniature, too!
