Small wholecloth quilt – free motion quilting practice
Hello friends!
Here is a new wholecloth quilt, it’s small, the rosette measures 20”.
This design can be quilted with the walking foot; it can also be free motion quilted- this is what I chose to do.

I used a puffy, polyester batting and the texture achieved is just amazing!

I quilted the rosettes and then I washed the quilt, in order to get rid of the marking lines.

I could have finished it at this stage…

… but I chose to add some more quilting inside the rosettes.

To make the quilting more apparent, I used a 28wt Aurifil thread. I think this weight is just PERFECT for wholecloth quilts.

The last step: I added quilting inside the small, center rosette and I used a different color of thread.

From a design drawn on paper to this amazing texture in just a few easy steps! Don’t you love free motion quilting?

How I wish to have time to sew all these designs! And then to join them with the quilt-as you-go technique into a bigger quilt!

Happy quilting!

I love this pattern. How can I order it?
