Boxes with Love

You might remember the gift I sent to my friend Sanda for Christmas.
I thought Sanda needs a container to keep all these together and because I couldn’t find any beautiful tin for this purpose, I had to be creative and make my own tin.
And because working with metal still has secrets for me (some day I will have to learn how to work with that wonderful  Mod Podge), I had to work with fabrics.

So I made these 6 triangular boxes.

And one large hexagonal box  to keep them all together.

Here is! Sanda loved it.

Then, I couldn’t stop. And I made these…

for my sister Nina,

to match her quilt.

Then I made these, for my niece. I was lucky that I had polka dots in the perfect size.

A 25 year old girl has a lot of treasures to keep there.

I worked hard ( read: pure coincidence!)  so that I can arrange the boxes around the center box in this way…

or in this way…

Then I made these for a little girl…

And so a new passion/obsession for boxes was born.

I apologize I show you empty boxes. But I don’t feel any pressure to fill them. This is the recipient’s job! But such a fun job!

Happy Sewing!

  2. Amazing boxes Geta. Been following your blog for sometime now. In fact, it was only on accidently stumbling upon your blog and reading about your triumph at quilting over all obstacles in a non-quilting country that made me start my own blog and gain confidence that the obstacles can indeed be overcome. You are a true inspiration. Greetings from India.
