Free motion quilting

August 14, 2014 7 Comments

I thought that because the design is simple and there are only two colors, there is space for some special quilting. And here is what I am quilting. I placed it on top of the quilt and with water soluble marker I started … [Read more...]

Jeans Needles

June 22, 2014 6 Comments

I love and appreciate jeans needles more and more. They saved my sanity when I quilted with the Aurifil 12wt thick thread and these days I had another nice surprise. I had to quilt over fusible web appliques; I used Aurifil 50wt thread and a topstitch needle; I tested the thread tension on a small regular sandwich - no appliques. Perfect stitches. Then I started to quilt over the appliques - … [Read more...]

In my first years of quilting, I did not have major problems with piecing or straight line quilting (with a walking foot) but free motion quilting was a real challenge to me. So here are a … [Read more...]

Free Motion Quilting Tips

Here is the promised tutorial on free motion quilting! In my country quilting is unknown to most people that is why I had to learn all by myself. Can you believe that the hardest thing I had to understand was stitching in the ditch? I had no one to tell me “Don’t do this, it is wrong” so I do some things in my own manner. They make my quilting easier and I use them all the time. Here are some … [Read more...]
