Modern Dresden Fan/Plate Quilt

April 14, 2015 10 Comments

I am happy to finally share with you my new quilt. A version like this I made first in 2011 and since then I have seen many other on Internet. I don't know why it took me so long to make this one, because this block is fun and the result spectacular. To me, the most exciting thing is that no applique or curved piecing is involved. Only easy piecing! There is no sign of spring here yet, so I am … [Read more...]

A New Dresden Fan Quilt

January 23, 2015 17 Comments

I am making a Dresden Fan quilt. A new version of the quilt I made in 2011. I am using polka dots again, just different polka dots... I have even white on white polka dots... This is definitely a fun block! I … [Read more...]

Orphan Dresden Blocks

May 22, 2012 11 Comments

I continue to make (and collect orphan!) dresden fan blocks. I made these blocks a few weeks ago, for my green quilt. I wasn't too happy with them and I put them in a box. Some day I will try another version. The only thing I am sure about is that I want blocks that look like circles and not blocks that look like octagons. You can see in the photo below the difference between the blocks. My … [Read more...]

Dresden Quilt Finished

November 16, 2011 64 Comments

Finally! I made it for my 25 year old niece, Andrada. She loves pink. The dot fabrics are from the Ta Dot collection by Michael Miller. I can't wait to find out what she thinks about it... What could I say about it ?  "Heavy quilting"  is my name! Even tough at first I thought I can't finish it before my retirement, it was actually a quick quilting. I looked at the clock: 20 minutes … [Read more...]
